UGREEN Launches Kickstarter Campaign for NASync Line of NAS Devices

UGREEN, traditionally known for its PC and mobile accessories, has recently announced its foray into the network-attached storage (NAS) market with the launch of its NASync line. This new product line encompasses six different models, catering to various storage needs, with support for up to eight hard drives. The highlight of these NAS systems is their incorporation of 12th-gen chips, DDR5-4800 memory, and the option for users to upgrade the memory.

The NASync product line was initially unveiled earlier in the year, showcasing a potentially competitive edge in terms of hardware specifications. To attract early adopters, UGREEN has initiated a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign offering significant discounts. The campaign features starting prices ranging from $239 to $899, which will eventually retail between $400 to $1500.

Prospective buyers should note that the estimated delivery date for the NASync systems is set for June 2024 or later. The lineup includes models varying in storage capacities and processor types, from N100 chips in the entry-level DXP2800 and DXP4800 systems to the more powerful Core i5-1235U chips in the high-end models.

The connectivity options across the NASync range are robust, featuring 2.5 GbE or faster LAN connections, with some models equipped with 10 GbE SFP+ connections. Additionally, the systems offer flexibility in storage with at least two M.2 slots for solid-state drives, which can be utilized as cache or primary storage.

However, potential backers are advised to consider the software aspect of these NAS systems. UGREEN is entering a market where competitors have spent many years refining their software solutions. While it may be possible to replace UGREEN’s default software with third-party solutions like TrueNAS or OpenMediaVault, this is not officially supported.
